Springtime

(From a previous spring)

Spring is here!  Giving praise to the Lord because He has made all things.

I am still working on packing all of the items not necessary for daily living.  I’m hoping to have that accomplished in the next couple of weeks so that I can start a deep cleaning of the house (walls, baseboards behind furniture, etc.)

I’m also ready to see some tulips in Woodburn, Oregon.  It is about time for my yearly spring trip to visit family and seeing the tulips is a bonus.

Blessings on this 1st day of Spring to you and yours!

Evidence of Spring

Everywhere I look, there is evidence of Spring.  New growth, yard cleanup, street washing...All this evidence points back to the Lord God!  Praises to the Creator of heaven and earth - Hallelujah.

Winter Continues ~ Grace Abounds

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow yesterday…which predicts another 6 weeks of winter.

I have to laugh at that since the official First Day of Spring is March 20th – 7 weeks away.

The poor creature – who wouldn’t be scared after being ripped out of a cozy bed and thrust into the ‘limelight’!

I am sure the East Coast is dreading another six weeks of winter.  However, over here in the Pacific Northwest, we have had an extremely mild winter.  I’m not sure what that will mean for the spring/summer months…drought?

As a Christian, I put my faith in the Lord.  This is for all aspects of my life, not just weather J  As a human, I fall short of that goal.  However, God’s grace and mercy are in abundance and cover my failings.  Thank you Lord!

Springtime=Yardtime

We are in the midst of the month of May.  It brings rain showers, warm days and cool nights.  Perfect weather for the yard to be green (whether it is full of grass or weeds).  I have a push mower – one of the ‘old-fashioned’ types.  Since I don’t do well in the heat, I am doing my yard work in the early mornings.  I did some of this last year and will be doing everything except weedwacking in the early mornings – people may not be happy with a battery operated weedwacker running before 7:00 a.m.  [I also believe it is against City Ordinance]  So I will leave that for Saturday mornings at 8.

This will be my 5th summer here and I still haven’t figured out what to do with the mess I call a yard.  I think my daughter is actually making a plan and maybe we will work on it this year but for sure next year!

Spring Clean-Up

I have the landscaping crew coming today to do a spring clean-up on my yard.  Then it is my duty to keep up on it :-)

I think my daughter and I will be looking at doing some raised beds.  I would also love to put up a clothesline ~ maybe one of the umbrella type

My small group is starting a new book of the Bible this Saturday: Jonah.  I am looking forward to actually getting into the Word versus a book by some celebrated author.

Praises to God for His grace.  Yesterday was my daughter's 1st day of full-time employment.  Congrats to her and thanks to the Lord!

Is It Springtime?

Yay ~ we are getting some sunshine this week.  I hope things dry out but don’t start growing yet.  I have yard work to do before the yard starts growing!

Week 2 of Eat To Live is going well.  I didn’t weigh or use measuring tape so I am relying on how I feel and how my clothes fit to note any weight loss.

I know a lot of people who make a list of their yearly projects.  I was thinking about that this morning and realized that I don’t do that on a regular basis.  I suppose budget-wise it would be a really good habit to be in.  I have some organizing projects that won’t take any financial budget, just time budget.  However, I do have a couple of projects that delve into the financial realm of things.  These aren’t huge projects so the output should be minimal.

I give thanks daily to our awesome Lord who gives us these beautiful bits of spring to entice us into the new season.

Looking Around the Corner

February is quickly coming to an end and I feel spring right around the corner [under the mounds of snow].

I am struggling with a few things:  getting back into a daily routine, Bible study and my volunteering commitments.  I am lifting these up in prayer and working on the ones in which I can actively change.

I think the longer daylight definitely helps with the motivation aspect of life.

God definitely knows when to change the seasons; what an Awesome God we have!!

Spring?

March is here and spring is just around the corner! I am ready for sunshine even though I can say that our winter here in the Pacific Northwest was mild in comparison to past winters. I wonder what that will mean for the rest of our seasons this year…
My spring list includes planting my ground-cover in the front yard and building raised garden beds (with some help) and planting a garden this year. I am hoping to can some of my garden harvest to use through the winter (a first endeavor for me).
My small group Bible study has just started a new study on The Armor of God and Ephesians. It is an 8 week study and we just did week 1. This is a study that will help us be prepared on a daily basis to be out in the world and stay steadfast in our faith. I am so blessed to have a group of Christian women to meet with weekly. They help me stay accountable and encourage me on this journey of life.
“When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him.” Proverbs 16:7
If we are following the Lord, our actions are loving which are pleasing to Him. As disciples, we are called to love one another.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

This is my third spring at my little house.  The first year was seeing what we had, the second year we decided to remove our front lawn in an eco-friendly way and this year I need to weed our front yard as it is a dirt patch with lots and lots of weeds.  The goal is to put in a walk-way and some native, low-watering plants.  LOL - I still haven't gotten the hang of yardwork :-(  It's great when it is done; it is the doing that is rough (kind of like housework!)...  I still have my daughter at home through the middle of August, so I need to get busy as she will help me get things going  :-)

Otherwise, life is status quo around here :-)

Here I Am

Goodness, where does the time go!  I have had a second "dry run" with my daughter doing a 15 day house sitting job.  I think I will survive her getting married and being a single empty nester  :-)

The MS Walk is tomorrow and I will be there with my tennis shoes on :-)  What a great cause to help fundraise for ~ the best part is that the money raised stays in the local area.

Wedding plans are moving forward.  I think she has everything figured out; just needs to have a bit of time to finish stuff up, YAY!

Spring is here and so is the yard work and landscaping that we didn't do last year  :-(  Since I still have my daughter living here this summer, I am going to make sure I get all I can done with my helper...
