This, That & the Other

A week until I am on a mini-vacation.  I get to visit with family and slip away from my job and community for a few days.  I pray that it is a joyful time of fellowship and re-energizing for my body and soul.  The last 2 months have been hectic at work, although that hasn’t pushed into other aspects of my life (other than an eye tic that won’t stop!).

My small group is in the middle of a book we are reading and discussing.  We usually do some type of study; however, a couple of gals were interesting in this particular book.  More 'book news' ~ I have just finished reading most of Charles Dickens’ works [I think I may have missed one or two but will double check].  Hmmm, I am lagging behind in crocheting – I would like to make some items and maybe put them on www.Etsy.com to sell.

I am amazed that it has been about a year since I started wearing skirts and headcoverings all the time.  I wasn’t sure how it would be in the winter; however, this year we have not been inundated with precipitation as the East Coast has.  So all in all, the adjustment to wearing skirts (or dresses) only has been extremely easy.

Busy Here, Busy There

The Pacific Northwest has been light in the snow department and I must say that I am not complaining.  As long as we get snow in the mountains (to stave off drought), I am thrilled to have unencumbered roads to drive on!

My sister and grandmother flew to the islands for some rest and relaxation this week.  It looks like the weather is cooperating for them.

Tonight I am going to a fundraiser with my other sister; it is the romantic musical comedy ‘Crazy for You’ ~ should be a fun event.

The Lord is so faithful, even when we are not.  How thankful I am and sing praises for His mercy and grace.

Bounty

I just received some yummy veggies from Jeanine’s garden.  They are beautiful.  It amazes me the bounty received from the small plants I saw over Memorial Day weekend.  I am excited to try the lemon cucumbers as I have heard they are delicious!  I am still hoping to have my own garden next year.  There are always variables when trying to plan – all will come together as it is meant to.

The temperature has finally come down into the mid-80s ~ much better for sleeping.  I started to whine about the temperature the other day; then realized how thankful I am to live in an area that has four distinct seasons.  True blessings!

Daylight

This year is off to a great start. I have my health, family, friends, church family and am praising the Lord for all of them!
My small group (Bible study) is beginning a short study of Forgiveness tomorrow. I have glanced at it and am eager to begin.
My mother and I (and maybe a sister) are going to start crafting together one night a week. We have been ‘talking’ about it for a good year now and are following through with action :-)
I woke this morning to a sheet of ice for my road – yikes. However, the main roads were fine. Walking from my car to work was a challenge! “Baby steps” and looking for snow to walk in helped.
As I left work the other night, I was pleasantly surprised to see the sunset ~ we are on the “upswing” for daylight. Yahoo!!

Spring??

LOL ~ what a difference one week makes!  We have been having balmy weather the last few days; breezy, rainy and mid-40s to 50 degrees :-)  I would be so thrilled if the snow was done falling here in our city; but I'm sure that is not the case.  Christmas is put away and the house is almost back to normal - sweet.  At work we are starting another "Biggest Loser Challenge" from mid-January thru mid-May.  I am participating and will be trying to lose weight and get healthy (unlike last time) so I should lose even more than last time. New Year, New Me - it's keeping the momentum until the new changes are habits :-)

Fall on the Horizon

This weekend was a precursor to some beautiful fall weather.  Highs in the upper 60s with sunny skies, lows in the 40s.  My little home cooled down at night and stayed comfortable all day.  Fall is my favorite time of year :-)  I am looking forward to the changing leaves, cool mornings, sunny days... We have a great place called Greenbluff which is made up of a bunch of farms where you can pick the produce and there are little shops, cafes...I haven't made my way there this year; however, I feel a day at Greenbluff coming on!

Heat

We know summer is here when the house does not cool down at night. For those of us living with screens and fans, there are some sleepless nights in the summer. I have come to rely on my ceiling fan and a damp, cool washcloth on my neck or forehead while I sleep. I have decided to “go with the flow” and not complain (too much or too loudly). There may be a time when I break down and purchase an air-conditioner, but not yet! I have a hard time purchasing something that is only used 2-2 1/2 months a year. We have cold winters and hot summers in the Pacific Northwest. I know that I will be able to pull up some “warm” memories this winter :-)
